Summary

Move Smartly came to us with a newly designed website and an existing HubSpot content ecosystem that included years of articles, reports, webinars, and real estate content.

Another agency handled the design. We handled the build.

Using Sprocket Rocket Core as the foundation, we customized a new HubSpot theme, rebuilt key pages and blog templates, integrated existing HubDB content, updated legacy templates, and supported the transition to the new insights.movesmartly.com subdomain.

The result is a completely refreshed Move Smartly Insights experience built on top of the content and systems they already had in HubSpot.

Project Overview

Client: Move Smartly
Platform: HubSpot Content Hub
Project: HubSpot-to-HubSpot website rebuild
Our Role: Development
Theme: Customized Sprocket Rocket Core
Website: insights.movesmartly.com

Move Smartly publishes Toronto real estate news, market analysis, reports, webinars, and educational content.

For this project, the new website designs had already been completed by another agency. Our job was to take those approved designs and turn them into a flexible, working HubSpot site.

Because Move Smartly was already using HubSpot, this wasn't a traditional website migration. The challenge was rebuilding the front end while preserving the content, data, URLs, and systems already powering the site.

Rebuilding an Existing HubSpot Content Ecosystem

Move Smartly already had an established library of articles, reports, webinars, and other content inside HubSpot.

Rather than starting over, we built around what was already working.

The project included:

  • A customized HubSpot theme
  • New global header and footer
  • New homepage
  • New blog listing template
  • New blog post template
  • Article filtering
  • HubDB-powered webinar listings
  • HubDB-powered report listings
  • Updated webinar detail pages
  • Reskinned legacy report templates
  • Responsive development and QA
  • Theme documentation and training

This allowed Move Smartly to introduce a completely new design without recreating years of existing content.

Building the New Site with Sprocket Rocket

We used Sprocket Rocket Core as the development foundation and customized it to match the supplied designs.

That included configuring the site's typography, spacing, buttons, forms, global styles, header, footer, and reusable theme settings.

Using an established HubSpot theme as the foundation gave us a strong starting point while still allowing us to customize the experience around Move Smartly's specific design and content requirements.

We also created internal theme documentation so their team had a reference for managing the new site after launch.

A More Flexible, Content-Driven Homepage

The rebuilt homepage combines several different types of content into one editorial experience.

Sections include:

  • Dynamically populated latest articles
  • The Move Smartly Show
  • Featured stories
  • Newsletter signup
  • Manually managed editorial content

For Featured Stories, we built in additional flexibility so content could be manually selected or populated using existing HubSpot blog content and tags.

The goal was to give the Move Smartly team control over what gets featured without requiring development help every time the homepage changes.

New HubSpot Blog Templates and Filtering

Move Smartly's article library also received a completely new front-end experience.

We developed both a new blog listing template and blog post template based on the supplied designs.

The listing page includes article filtering by author and topic while continuing to use HubSpot's existing blog taxonomy and content structure.

Instead of recreating existing posts or changing established URLs, the new templates were applied to the content already living inside HubSpot.

That meant Move Smartly could significantly change how its content looked and functioned without rebuilding the content itself.

HubDB-Powered Webinars and Reports

Move Smartly was already using HubDB to manage structured webinar and report content.

Rather than replacing that system, we rebuilt the front-end experience around it.

The new Webinar and Reports listing pages continue pulling their content from the existing HubDB tables, allowing the Move Smartly team to manage those resources from the same structured data source they were already using.

Webinar detail pages were also rebuilt using the new theme so they aligned more closely with the updated website.

Updating Legacy Content Without Rebuilding It

Move Smartly also had a large library of long-form real estate market reports.

Rebuilding every report individually wouldn't have been a good use of time or budget.

Instead, we reskinned the existing report template to bring those pages into the new visual system while preserving existing content and functionality, including the sticky table of contents used on longer reports.

This gave older content a refreshed appearance without requiring dozens of individual page rebuilds.

Before and After

The rebuild gave Move Smartly a substantially different visual experience while keeping the content and infrastructure underneath it largely intact.

Moving Move Smartly Insights to a New Subdomain

The project was also part of a larger change to the Move Smartly brand and website structure.

Move Smartly's primary real estate website was being developed separately, while its editorial content needed a dedicated home at:

insights.movesmartly.com

We supported the HubSpot side of that transition, including:

  • Connecting and preparing the new subdomain
  • Moving applicable HubSpot content to the new domain
  • Updating global navigation
  • Coordinating redirect requirements
  • Testing new URLs
  • Reviewing the HubSpot sitemap
  • QA across the live site after launch

This allowed the Insights platform to become its own distinct content destination while remaining connected to the broader Move Smartly brand.

The Outcome

Move Smartly didn't need to throw away its existing HubSpot content infrastructure to launch a substantially different website.

By rebuilding the front end around the systems they already had, we were able to combine a new agency-created design with years of established articles, reports, webinars, HubDB data, and HubSpot functionality.

The finished site gives Move Smartly a refreshed and more cohesive home for its Insights content while keeping the HubSpot systems already supporting the business.
